SECTION I: Academic


1. Which is the university imparting CA education?
No university in the world imparts CA education. For CA education, every country has its autonomous body established under the Act of Parliament, like The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal for Nepal. Students have to get registered with the Board and may take private coaching classes. Chartered Academics International supports students in every procedure including registration.

2. What is ICAN?

ICAN stands for The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal, an autonomous body established under Chartered Accountants Act, 1997, enacted by the parliament of Nepal to regulate CA profession in Nepal.

3. What is ICAI?

ICAI stands for The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, an autonomous body established under Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, enacted by the parliament of India to regulate the CA profession in India. 

4. Who can study Chartered Accountancy?
ICAN:
Students who have cleared or appeared in final year of 10+2 or Intermediate level in any stream can study Chartered Accountancy starting from CAP I/ CA Foundation. However, students who have already passed Bachelors’ level with prescribed percentage may directly join CAP II/ CA Intermediate level. (For percentage criteria refer to Q. No 11) ICAI:
Students who have cleared class 10 or a higher education can study Chartered Accountancy starting from Common Proficiency Test (CPT) level. (Students who have joined CPT level after passing class 10 have to study and appear in Higher Secondary Examination (10 + 2) before the CPT Examination. Only after appearing in 10+2, can appear in CPT Examination)

5. Can those students who have not cleared but appeared for final exams of 10+2 or Intermediate level and waiting for results join Chartered Accountancy?
Yes, the students waiting for results can also join Chartered Accountancy. They have to get registered provisionally and submit the proof of passing to the Board (ICAN or ICAI) within 6 months of registration and, the failure of which will cause the cancellation of their registration (for ICAN only). Provisional registration for CA Foundation & Intermediate under ICAN and CPT under ICAI is available.

6. Where can we get CA education?

CA education can now be completed in Nepal itself. Full facilities and support including coaching classes and training are available in Kathmandu at Chartered Academics International. However, students should go to India for Examination and for Articleship Training under ICAI.

7. How can we get the CA education?

After getting registered with the concerned Board (ICAN or ICAI), students may take private coaching classes at Chartered Academics International and prepare for the exam.
8. Which is preferable, ICAN or ICAI?

It is the self-interest of students with which Board he/she wants to be registered. However, students can be given advice as to the preference of the Board considering their individual factors on request. You may visit Chartered Academics International for the same.

9. Is there any provision of transfer between ICAN and ICAI during studies?
No, so far there is no agreements for interchange or credit transfer between ICAN and ICAI.

10. What is the difference between ICAN and ICAI?
The only difference between ICAN and ICAI is that ICAN is Nepalese Board where as ICAI is Indian Board for CA education.

11. What are the eligibility criteria to study Chartered Accountancy?
The eligibility criteria to study Chartered Accountancy under ICAN and ICAI are different and they are as follows:


Under ICAN

Level

CAP I/ CA Foundation      At least 10+2 or Intermediate pass or result awaiting students or non-exempted Graduates.
CAP II/ CA Intermediate         
  CA Foundation pass or appeared or Exempted Graduates
Exempted Graduates:
  1. Commerce Graduates having not less than 50% marks
  2. Non-commerce Graduates having not less than 60% marks
CAP III/ CA Final CA Intermediate Pass

12. What are the dates of registration for Chartered Accountancy courses?

Registration is open throughout the year. A student may register at anytime during the year. However, the examinations are held in June and December under ICAN and it is necessary that a student must get registered at least 12 months before the examination.
Under ICAI, for CPT level examinations are held in June and December and it is necessary that a student must get registered at least 60 days before the examination. Registration calendar can be obtained at request from CAI office.

14. Is it really hard to study Chartered Accountancy as is generally understood?
As the saying says, “Nothing is possible for those, who do nothing”, Chartered Accountancy education requires in depth dedication and regular labor with genuine effort for the successful completion and qualifying.

15. How many hours in a day do students have to study for the completion of course?

In depth dedication and regularity leads a person towards success. Chartered Academics International P. Ltd, runs intensive coaching classes for all levels of CA education and the classes are of 3 hours a day and 6 days in a week.
An average student who is sincere, dedicated and committed towards studies can achieve success in the CA course.

16. Where are the examinations held?

Under ICAN, the examination center, so far, is inside the Kathmandu .


17. Is there any restriction in number of attempts?

Under ICAN, students should complete CA Foundation and Intermediate within 5 years from the date of registration for the concerned level. Where as under ICAI, for CPT students can attempt half yearly basis with payment prescribed examination fee for each attempt. For PCC & CA Final level there is no restriction in number of attempts under ICAI and ICAN.

18. Is it possible to do CA along with other college education?

Yes, of course! Students can do other bachelor programs like BBS, BBA, etc.

19. How can students manage time if he/she wants to do CA with BBS, BBA, etc.?

The students who are undergoing CA education need not really attend colleges for BBS, BBA, etc., because under this course students are taught in-depth and in-detail. Courses of CA cover the majority of the syllabus of BBS, BBA, etc. However, students are suggested to join BBS,        BBA, etc., course along with CA course.

20. Is there any scope for those who will not be able to complete CA for any reason?

Those who cannot complete CA will still have better future than general university degree holders because they have thorough practical education along with rigorous training of 3 years. Many such semi-qualified people are working with various organizations at different levels.

21. Is CA course recognized by TU?
Yes. CA course with bachelor degree in any discipline is recognized by TU as equivalent to Master’s Degree.

22. Can we do PhD after completing CA?
 Yes. After the completion of CA course, one can do PhD subject to recognition given by concerned universities.

23. What is the duration of Chartered Accountancy Course?
The duration of Chartered Accountancy course is 5 year under ICAN and 4 Years under ICAI.

25. What is the fee payment schedule? Level-wise registration fee shall be paid at the time of admission and examination fee shall be paid while filling up examination forms to the Board. Where as, tutorial fee shall be paid level-wise in two installments, one at the time of admission and another as instructed by CAI.

26.  Is there any scholarship facilities at CAI?
CAI provides various scholarships to deserving and needy students. There are three types of scholarships.
  1. based on merit and test – by CAI
  2. based on Board result – by CAI
  3. based on selection – by sponsoring organizations and businessmen
So far, over 50 students have studied at CAI under different scholarship schemes.

27. Who are Chartered Accountants?
Chartered Accountancy is a professional education course. Chartered Accountancy profession occupies a prominent role of higher-level executives in our society, economy, trade and business, banking, education, taxation, finance, etc. Chartered Accountancy in other words means a door to a secured and sophisticated career.

28. What is the role and scope of Chartered Accountants in the modern-day commercial world?
Chartered Accountants occupy the prominent role of higher-level executives in our economy and society. Members of this profession play a dominant role in accounting, taxation and auditing areas. With the passage of time, increasing responsibilities are being placed on the members for their specialized knowledge. The presence of CAs in top management level of various well-known banks, financial institutions and government offices of the country also signifies the importance and the weight of CA education.

29. What is the recognition of CA course?
Chartered Accountancy is an academic as well as professional education course and the CAs produced under ICAN and ICAI are well recognized through out the country.

30. Can CA work in foreign countries?

Yes, CAs can work in foreign countries. There could be restriction for auditing in foreign countries because for that CAs have to be the member of concerned statutory authority of respective countries. For rest of all the professions, CA degree is recognized all over the world.

31. Why choose CA profession rather than others?
We can’t say that any profession is better or worse but what matters in a profession is financial status and the status of quo in society he/she belongs to. CAs are well paid and respected in any area whether it is corporate or educational. CA profession is a better door towards a secured and sophisticated career.

32. What is Chartered Academics International P. Ltd.?
CAI is the pioneer institution in Nepal established in 1996 AD by a group of CAs to provide intensive coaching classes for all levels of CA course of both The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

33. How does CAI serve students?

CAI runs intensive coaching classes on all levels of CA education. CAI not only provides the coaching classes but it also does the work of registration of students at their preferred Board along with the high class educational environment to students so that they could well build up their career in CA profession. Proper career counseling & post qualification placement assistance are additional features at CAI.

34. What is the strength of CAI?
CAI presently has the faculty members of over 30 CAs and about 20 in management, mathematics and statistics, economics, law, etc and has a continuous program to develop the faculties. Well-furnished class rooms, canteen, revision classes, subject-wise reference notes, top level experienced faculties and well-managed library open for its students from 08:00 am to 05:00 pm with about 1,000 books are the main strength of CAI.

35. Why CAI for CA education?

CAI is the first and pioneer in Nepal to run the coaching classes for all levels in CA education. Only qualified doctors and not quakes can teach medicine. This saying is cent percent true in the highly professional course of CA. Only qualified and experienced CAs should teach the core subjects of CA course. CAI is the only institution promoted and managed by CAs for future CAs. CAI has produced many merit rank holders in CA education, which also signifies the reason to choose CAI for better education.
